Maya 2018.2 is available for Windows 7 and 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and 7.2 WS and CentOS 6.5 and 7.2, and Mac OS X 10.11 and above. Maya 2018.4 Update


1 - Improvement of Maya Software and hardware for rendering: If Autodesk has a renderer that doesn´t renders any new feature and needs to buy another one that also requires extra licenses to work without watermarks, what they really should do is develope its own powerfull renderer, insteed of having a renderer 'just in case' wich no one uses.
2 - Faster loading of files: Maya 2016 loaded files twice faster than Maya 2017.
3 - Free batch render with Arnold: this sound more like a dream, but hey.. Dorothy went back to Kansas; how you sell Maya as a final product? that´s a total lie, shame on you Autodesk.

4 - Faster dynamics for hair and ncloth: at the moment creating a hair description with interactive grooming, even if the hairs have not been animated the time slider is affected by xgen like if they were animated.
5 - Faster Wrap deformer: while working with tight cloth, wrap deformer does 10 times a better work than bind and doesn´t requires infinite hours to correct weights, binding cloth and copy weights and correcting weights is a real waist of time, wrap deformer does an awesome job but the price is a slower timeslider, this is a problem asked to be fixed since more than 5 years and never got solved, wrap deformer still slow to edit and to animate
6 - Improved bind, and paint weights tool: Autodesk tried to fix this claim by adding Delta Mush, but the reality is that Delta mush affects all the figure, while paint weights its a more precise tool, its a boring, long, time consuming process, Maya should replace completly this tool for a better, faster way of working, you might simply create vertex masks and apply them to selected joint and blending bettwen them, this will avoid automatic bind to select other mesh parts and prevent hours of correcting weights.
7 - Improved joints: since 2015 joints got a bit of an improvement, but since many designers create flexi sistems, and more complex ways of rigging, Maya should already had improved joints to be able to streach, follow next or previous joint off and on, etc.
8 - a far modern workspace: panels could autohide to enable a larger viewport, the view cube should work on any viewport, pressing space could create a cooler multimenu, etc.
9 - Open multi projects on a same session at the same time: Maya excuses this by saying that you could easily open many Maya sesions at the same time, but the reality is that you need a lot of memory to handle several Maya sesions at the same time, and having a simple menu that enables to change from one project to the other would be great and wont require that much memory as opening Maya 10 times.
10 - Pose editor to work with any object: just think about the power of this tool, if it could interpolate not just binded meshes, but between meshes, nurvs, without joints, this could be the future of rigging since you already make an object to change its shape based on the movement of another one.

Autodesk has released Maya 2018.2, a minor update to the 3D modelling and animation software, adding new render attributes for Bifröst simulations and updating FBX export.

(Full disclosure: it actually came out before Christmas, but we didn't manage to cover it at the time.)

I have an Xcode Bot that is giving the following warning after a successful build. As far as I can tell, there are no unassigned children in my 'AppIcon' icon set. I also get no warnings when build. Xcode: App icon set has an unassigned child. The app icon set 'AppIcon' has an unassigned child. Hot Network Questions Dad accidentally sat on my cat. The app icon set has an unassigned child. I get this warning but everything works. X-code Version 8.3.3 (8E3004b) The unassigned child is icon-60.png. If you aren't seeing any unassigned images it might be that there's an internal bug somewhere. New render options provide finer control over Bifröst output
Bifröst, Maya's fluid simulation toolset, gets a number of new render attributes in Maya 2018.2.

Maya 2018.3

Simulations can now be rendered as surfaces, points or volumes, with the option to choose different render types for the liquid surface, foam and spray.

Each render type gets its own individual controls, including new smoothing options for surfaces.

It is also now possible to render only those portions of a sim that fall inside the world-space bounding box of clipping mesh; and to blend a simulated fluid surface back into a planar mesh for ocean simulations.

Maya 2018.2

Data channels like velocity, vorticity and density can also be exported individually for use in shading.

The 2018.2 release also updates FBX export to avoid issues created by animation curves with long tangents. Where a tangent extends beyond the surrounding keys, the animation is now baked into the curve on export.

The previous update, Maya 2018.1, also added a new Unity neutral tonemap: a view transform that emulates Unity's default viewing pipeline.

Well, you can't import it or open it directly, Word doesn't recognize any file with an SVG extension. The way around this is to use the clipboard. To do this, you'll need to have an application that uses SVG formats. A great free application that uses SVG formats is Inkscape. Add svg to microsoft word for mac 2011. SVG is a markup language, scalable vector graphics, created by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), designed for describing two-dimensional vector and mixed vector / raster graphics in XML. Supports both and animated, interactive graphics and declarative scripting. Not support the description of three-dimensional objects. To insert an SVG file in Office for Mac just use Insert Pictures like any other image file. There are several things you can do to customize how your SVG image looks in your document. To access those tools click on your SVG image and a contextual Graphic Format tab should appear on the Ribbon. My system: MacBook Pro with Office 365, Microsoft Word for Mac Version 15.37 (170815) It is not possible for me to import a svg file generated from python into a Word-file. Generated pdf or jpg files are imported without problem. The generated svg files works properly under other programs like inkscape etc.
